A few years ago I volunteered to run a fundraising raffle for a non profit group. One guy seemed to be running the club on his own and I wanted to help out (many hands make light work and all that).
We had always had our raffle tickets printed by a general printing business in town, so one lunch time I jumped in the car and drove there to organise some tickets - thinking to myself I'll have this done in about 10 minutes and later this week I should have some shiny new raffle tickets to sell!
I was flabbergasted to find that the cost was high and the turn around time was counted in weeks, not days like I was expecting!
No problem I thought - I'll just cruise by some of the other printers in town - and to my surprise their prices were just as high and lead times just as long.
What options do I have? I'll just check out the internet, it's making everyone's lives easier. I'll just order some raffle tickets and get them posted to me - guess what? No printing companies had prices listed on their web sites and even when I called most printers didn't want to help!! I couldn't believe it - I wanted to give them money to buy their product but they just seemed to be to interested in bond weight and size specifications! I just wanted raffle tickets with our club name and prizes listed but no one seemed to be interested, no one wanted to help!
So I thought to myself "I'll make my own raffle tickets" and I did! Between making the tickets and when we started selling them a little thought popped into my head:
"I wonder if other people have the same hassle getting custom raffle tickets printed?"
And so, Budget Raffle Tickets began!.
My wife has now joined me which is fantastic as she is also community spirited, so the "I" become a "we"!
